Introduction
 Finasteride 5 mg is used for treatment of prostate gland hypertrophy and associated symptoms.
BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) occurs only in men and is more common at the age of 50 years and up. BPH can cause serious problems, i.e urinary tract infections and the inability to pass urine at all.
Some studies has also shown that Finasteride 5 mg can have an additional benefit in preventing or delaying the appearance of prostate cancer.
- Finasteride is also prescribed to treat hair loss.
- Finesteride has shown to be similar in effectiveness to other well-established anti-androgen treatments in hyperandrogenic acne. Moreover, only a very low dosage of 5 mg per day of this anti androgen receptor blocker is effective in acne reduction. In patients who respond well to treatment, acne improves rapidly and may even be thoroughly eliminated after two to three months.
