Description
Atenolol is a beta-blocker medication primarily used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain caused by the heart. However, atenolol does not appear to improve mortality in people with high blood pressure. Other complications include migraine prevention and treatment of certain irregular heartbeats. It ministers orally or intravenously. It can also be used in conjunction with other blood pressure medications.
Tiredness, heart failure, dizziness, depression, and shortness of breath are all common side effects.
Bronchospasm is another profound side effect. Use is not advised during pregnancy, and alternative medications are preferred when breastfeeding. It works by inhibiting 1adrenergic receptors in the heart, lowering heart rate and workload.
