Description
Clofert 25 MG Tablet is a medicine used to treat female infertility (the inability of women to get pregnant). It increases the release of certain hormones (the body’s chemical messengers), which help in inducing ovulation (egg production) in women.
Clomifene, also known as clomiphene, is a fertility medication used to treat women who do not ovulate, including those with polycystic ovary syndrome. Use increases the likelihood of twins. It is taken orally once a day for five days as part of a five-day course of treatment.
- Pelvic pain and hot flashes are common side effects.
- Other potential side effects include vision changes, vomiting, difficulty sleeping, ovarian cancer, and seizures.
- It is not recommended for people with liver disease, abnormal vaginal bleeding of unknown cause, or pregnant.
- Clomifene is a nonsteroidal medication that belongs to the selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) family.
In the United States, clomifene was approved for medical use in 1967. It is listed on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines as an “Ovulation inducer” (Complementary List). With its introduction, the era of assisted reproductive technology began.
Clomifene (especially the purified enclomiphene isomer) has significantly increased or restored testosterone levels in hypogonadal men.
