How does Differin work?

Adapalene has actions similar to vitamin A (retinol). It stimulates cell division in the skin and reduces the production of keratin. It aids skin peeling and prevents the formation of acne lesions (comedones).

Acne is caused by blockage of sebaceous glands. This leads to an accumulation of the skin’s natural oils (sebum). Bacteria on the skin feed on sebum and produce waste products, which further inflame the sebaceous glands, causing acne. Irritant substances can leak into the surrounding skin causing further inflammation.

The action of adapalene combats the changes that take place in acne.

Adapalene is used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. It is best suited to dry and fair skin.

How to use Differin Gel?

Use Differin exactly as your doctor has prescribed it for you. Use exactly as directed on the label. Do not use in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Using Differin in larger amounts than recommended will not make it work faster, and may cause unpleasant side effects.

Do not take by mouth. Differin is for use only on the skin.

Differin is usually applied once daily in the evening.

Wash your hands before applying this medicine.

Clean your skin with a mild non-medicated skin cleanser before applying the medicine. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel.
